What it measures

Self-Direction is the systemic lens on the Inner World: your inner blueprint — identity, purpose, the organizing idea of who you are and where you're going. It answers not "what should I do?" but "who is deciding?"

When it's clear

Clear Self-Direction produces decisions that feel owned rather than negotiated. You can hold a direction without constant re-validation, change course without collapsing, and distinguish your actual values from inherited ones. Purpose stops being a search and becomes an organizing fact.

When it's blocked

Blocked Self-Direction is the most common severe block we see — and the most disorienting. It produces people who are competent everywhere and directed nowhere: careers chosen by momentum, relationships by availability, goals borrowed from whoever was loudest. Life works on paper and feels unowned in practice.

How it shows up in daily life

Indecision that outlasts every deadline. A life that could be summarized as "reasonable choices, no author." The unsettling calm of abandoning plans that were never really yours. If this is your top blockage in the report, it explains the peculiar exhaustion of living a life you keep having to re-choose.

What unblocks it

Direction isn't found by thinking harder — it's recovered by separating your voice from the chorus. The assessment shows where the blueprint blurs; the Deep Dive is built exactly for this: locating whose plan you've been executing.
